Did you know that when dolphins sleep they are able to sleep 1/2 of their brain at a time. They shut down 1/2 half of their brain for approximately 8 hours per day. This amazing phenomenon is necessary due to the fact that dolphins are mammals and need to surface for oxygen throughout the 24 hour day. Scientists have verified this phenomenon by using electroencephalography (electrodes hooked up to the head measure electricity levels in the brain). Did you know that it takes light from our sun a little over 8 minutes to reach the earth. If you have ever watched the sunset over the ocean the last partial image of the sun that you see (just before it hides behind the horizon) is just an image - the sun set 8 minutes earlier. Did you know that on March 02, 2009 an asteroid missed earth by only 48,000 miles. The asteroid was named 2009 DD45. If the asteroid had passed closer it could have hit the earth or exploded in the atmosphere causing a damaging shock wave. In 1908 a similar event took place in Tunguska Russia (Siberia) where over 800 square miles of trees were destroyed. Did you know that if you could extract all of the rest energy locked up into a piece of matter the size of a golf ball (.046 kg) it would be enough energy to power a 75 watt light bulb for approximately 1.7 million years. Every piece of matter (including you) has a wavelength. The larger the piece of matter the smaller the wavelength. There is no such thing as free energy in nature. Imagine you are going to draw power from an electric turbines at the base of a dam, do you think you can draw unlimited power from these electric turbines? The answer is no. Imagine that the water directed into the electric turbine was limitless and could be directed into the electric turbine at unlimited velocity. Next imagine that the only other force that had to be overcome was the friction inside the electric turbine. Now, let's say you needed more electricity, so you allowed more water to flow through your electric turbine, but that was not enough, so you allow even more water to run through your electric turbine. Well if you keep allowing more and more of your unlimited supply of water to run through your electric turbine at higher and higher velocities you would think that you could produce all the energy you would need. But guess what happens. Nature builds a force within the electric turbine that goes against the direction of rotation within the turbine and as the load you draw increases so will this opposing force. Eventually the electric turbine will no longer turn! Nothing, including energy, is free! Scientists are now developing eye drops that would allow humans to see in the dark!
